Please find a video on YouTube that shows one of the leadership behaviors from Path-Goal theory (directive, supportive, participative, or achievement oriented). Path-Goal theory is covered in this week’s reading. Please provide a link to your video and explain why it is a good fit. This has to be done by Friday.

The directive path-goal of this coach as a leader is to change his players behavior by increasing their motivation, empowerment, and satisfaction by facilitating their work towards a common goal of winning for the U.S.A. The coach is the leader and dictates the expectations to his team by making them do line drills and helps them to see the path they need to take to achieve the goal of winning by realizing that they were all working together as one. The directive leadership style in this example is suitable for these athletes as they need guidance and structure. In this example, a supportive leadership style is not strong enough to manage as these players thought their contribution was greater than another. The participative leadership style counts on collaboration with the employees and takes their ideas to achieve the goals. However, in this example, the coach is not open to discussion and suggestions from his players as it is not a collaborative process. As well, achievement-oriented leadership for individuals does not promote a team goal. By looking at the leadership behavior of this coach, it helps me to understand what is involved in being an effective leader in different situations and with different employees.
