One enterprising firm, The Parisienne Carpet Gallery (PCG), seeks to expand its sales by offering franchises for its products in other countries (starting with Australia) and delivering carpets direct to the requesting customer, no matter where s/he is in the world. Usually, a customer can make an appointment with a consultant from PCG and the franchisees are expected to provide the same service if required. Under the current business process, the on-site discussion with a consultant is free. After the consultation services have been performed, the consultant generates an invoice requesting payment for the agreed item(s), which is given to the customer, along with a confirmation of the details of the items to be delivered. The invoice can be paid via cash or credit card. Being aware of the high cost of some of its carpets, PCG allows quarterly part-payments over a year. As part of its business expansion, PCG wishes to create a tablet app that will run on both the Android and iOS operating systems. The app will allow customers to view and select from the catalogue of floor coverings, send requests for extra information, make an appointment with a consultant, provide address/delivery details, remind a customer when a payment is due and pay invoices. Before a rug can be purchased, the inventory must be checked to confirm that the ordered item is in-stock. If the rug is in stock, the inventory is adjusted to reflect the sale.
