Developing the Model:
– Identify the resources that are needed in delivering the service and/or department operations
– Develop measures for supply of those identified inputs (people, equipment, space): numbers of units and/or staff, cost per unit, numbers reflecting total units or times (example: 1 RN @ $25/hr., + 1 Med. Receptionist @ $15/hr.)
– Develop Cost for Operations – Projection of “average” use scenario (i.e., volumes and/or operational shifts)
– Present your summary in the form of a formula or projected cost for use that represents the services provided and use and/or cost for an operational cost for access to a provider
Cost Model submittal:
The model can be submitted in one of the following formats:
– Formula/equation – with description
– Flow chart for service – with identification/description of service
– Narrative – identify elements, identify costs, outline methods used to measure inputs/outputs
